Writing Project #2: Resume Package
Instructions
This assignment has four (4) parts, so read carefully.
Part 1 – Identify the job description for which you are writing your resume. Include that job description with your resume. Be sure to review and revise your resume for that job description. Target the job.
Part 2 – Write or revise your resume and post to the appropriate conference topic.
Part 3 – Review the resumes of at least two classmates and give substantial feedback.
Part 4 – Once the reviews are in, revise your resume as you see fit and submit to your Assignment Folder for grading, along with the two letters that are required. No need to submit your job description. The first letter is the cover letter for your resume. The second letter is a follow up letter that asks the HR reviewer for more time to make your decision. This letter gives you experience in courtesy to request time to complete more interviews before deciding.
Details
Step 1: After studying the material in the Course Contest Module and in your Bovee/Thill text, select a type of resume to create for this assignment. Identify the type of resume you have written. Unless you have skills as a graphic designer, select a resume template from the Microsoft resume template site: Resume templates. Don’t forget to find a job description to work with.
Step 2: Upload your resume to the Conference thread provided in Week 2. In the title of your post, identify the type of resume you are submitting. In your brief introduction, give us your job description and let us know how you decided on that particular resume format and content. Add your resume as an attachment (Word or PDF) or a link.
Step 3: Use the suggestions for revision provided by your classmates to polish your resume for grading. Submit your final version to your Assignment Folder by the due date, along with the two letters.
Keep in mind that a single typo or misspelling on a resume can cause it to be thrown out and for you to lose that job opportunity.
Format
You may submit your resume in Word or PDF if you wish (prospective employers most often request Word or PDF documents). However, online resumes are being seen more and more. If you wish to upload your resume to your own blog or web site, that’s fine. Just provide a link to it and be sure I have access.
